Mimi and Jeff are NYC-based swing dance instructors, specializing in Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, and St. Louis Shag.

They offer weekly classes, weekend workshops, private lessons, wedding lessons, and any kind of lesson and demo tailored to your event. They are also both experienced performers, choreographers, and swing music DJs.

Mimi and Jeff met in 2006 at the NYU Swing Dance Society, where they both learned their first swing moves! From there, they established a dance (as well as life) partnership, teaching regionally in the tri-state area and gaining recognition at swing events like the International Lindy Hop Championships, All Balboa Weekend, Montreal Swing Riot, Houston LindyFest, and their hometown favorite Frim Fram Jam. In addition, they are established local teachers in the New York City area as resident instructors of You Should Be Dancing and Brooklyn Swings studios, in addition to being featured instructors at New York University, Rutgers University, Columbia University, and Harlem Swing Dance Society. They recently wed in 2016, over 10 years after they met for the first time. Mimi and Jeff describe their own dancing as fun, dynamic, and very connected.

Mimi Liu-Leyco

Mimi is ecstatic to share the spirit of the Jazz Age in her dancing and teaching. A lifelong dancer, she started swing dancing on a whim in 2005 as a summer hobby in Pasadena, California. Later that year, she moved to New York City, where her love for jazz music and its related dances blossomed exponentially. Today, she is recognized as an up-and-coming force in the Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Authentic Jazz worlds, winning numerous dance awards locally and nationally. She is especially remembered for her sassy and graceful stylings on the floor. In her hometown of NYC, Mimi is known as an established teacher, performer, and choreographer of swing dance. Her advice to all swing lovers is to embrace the flow of the music, which is how she continually finds joy in swing.
